Police in the Eastern Region opened an investigation into the death of an unidentified man suspected of being lynched by a mob.

The deceased was allegedly lynched by a crowd in Agomanya Ablotsi, in the municipality of Lower Manya Krobo, was discovered in a gutter Saturday morning.

The body was injured several times during the attack when a team of Odumase officers discovered it.

The victim who would have been in his early thirties is not known to the inhabitants of the region.

Detective Inspector George Koranteng of the Odumase Police Command told Kofi Siaw of Joy News that they had been informed of the body at 7:30.

According to him, little information had been received about the incident or the deceased, but they indicated that they were investigating the incident.

He warned the public not to lynch the suspected thieves, but to report such incidents to the police.

The deputy from the region of Agomanya Ablotsi North condemned the incident.

Advising residents not to enforce laws, he condemned the large-scale robberies committed in and around Agomanya.

He revealed that plans are underway to hold a public forum to find ways to solve flight problems.

The latest incident brings to two the number of thieves allegedly lynched in the region in the last three months.

The body was transported to the morgue of the Atua government hospital for autopsy and preservation.
