Approximately 375 nurses will be considered for this cooperation.

Addressing a press conference after the bilateral talks, Barbadian Prime Minister Mia Mottley said: "We have indicated that we are looking for just under 400 nurses. not a small, wonderful opportunity for cooperation between our two countries. "

In addition, she noted that the initial promise to secure nurses and set up joint training programs in the future was also being considered, all with the goal of securing the health sector in Barbados.

This country is facing a serious shortage of nurses.

In his response, President Akufo-Addo said that "there is a surplus of nurses in Ghana and that placing them all in our public health system is one of my ills. head. The government has already indicated that it was working to send Ghanaian nurses to countries such as Germany, Japan, Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom.

The meeting between President Akufo-Addo and the Barbadian Prime Minister also resulted in the reactivation of a cultural, technical and scientific agreement signed in 2005 between the two countries, an agreement dormant for 14 years.

Discussions also focused on tourism and transport, with Ghana and Barbados agreeing to work on an air services agreement, which will establish direct air links between the two countries, to stimulate trade and contacts between the two countries. peoples.

On renewable energies, President Akufo-Addo expressed the wish of Ghana to work with Barbados, a giant country in this field, and reiterated Ghana's commitment to increase the renewable energy component of its biodiversity package. energy production.
