Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia said 21 people were facing trial for embezzlement of public funds.

He noted that the NPP government was committed to supporting such prosecutions, regardless of the political affiliation of these individuals.

He also added that the Akufo-Addo-led administration is setting up efficient administrative systems and strengthening anti-corruption institutions in the fight against corruption in the country.

Speaking at the first public conference organized by Occupy Ghana and Audit Service, the Vice President felt that the law should follow its course in misappropriation of public funds.

Dr. Bawumia also called for effective collaboration between anti-corruption institutions, such as the Economic and Organized Crime Bureau, the Financial Intelligence Unit, the Criminal Investigation Department of the Police Service, civil society and Ghanaians for provide relevant information and clues to protect public finances.

He badured that the government would continue to strengthen public institutions by providing adequate resources and improving administrative systems to deter people from engaging in corrupt practices.

The head of Ghana's economic management team also revealed that the government would introduce a "No Duty, No Exit" plan in the ports, which would prevent containers from being lost or stolen.
