Dozens of pbadengers, who belong to a Catholic church in Akosombo, died in a fatal accident along the Otorkpolu-Odumase Krobo road in the eastern region.

Sources said that pbadengers on board a VRA bus were returning from a funeral at Akyem Oda. The driver lost control by taking a turn at Asitey, which caused the bus to tip over several times.

A team consisting of members of Odumase and Somanya police and fire services rushed to the scene to help clear people trapped in the bus and drove them to the airport. St. Martins Hospital in Porres and the public hospital of Agormanya and Atua.

The death of seven pbadengers has been confirmed so far by the government hospital of Atua, while 14 others are in critical condition.

Inadequate ambulances to transport the seriously wounded to Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua are likely to lose even more lives for emergency treatment.

According to Emmanuel Tetteh, a local journalist, there are currently only two ambulances to transport the wounded in turn.
