In a few hours, Ghana's biggest quiz would be back on television, radio and online.
The 135 schools taking part in the national science and math quiz all arrived at the University of Ghana as the competition took off on Monday.
The 27 schools that reached the quarter-finals in 2018 automatically qualified for the 2019 edition. However, all the other schools had to win one of the 108 places in the preliminary phase.
And after all qualifying, the table is ready and the vote was held on Saturday.
Before doing so, however, let's take a look at the schools that have the highest scores in each regional qualifier and the threat they pose and, by extension, the region where the feet are the most dangerous.
Ashanti Region
Kumasi High School recorded the highest score in the regional qualifiers with a total of 77 points. Incidentally, this score is the highest of the 10 regional qualifying competitions.
At the eighth stage of the 2018 contest, a three-point difference defeated them at the hands of St. Louis SHS also in Kumasi.
With such fierce competition, they should be a force in 2019. At least they have the support of Deputy Minister of Education, Mr. Yaw Adutwum.
eastern region
In the Eastern region, Oti Boateng SHS scored 74 points, much more than the prestigious pope John SHS and the minor seminary. They qualified with 50 points.
With history to guide us, OBOSS should facilitate the preliminaries, but they may encounter difficulties from the eighth stage at which the seeded schools join.
* Volta Region
As expected, Bishop Herman College had no trouble eliminating the opposition in the playoffs. Their total of 56 points is the highest in the region.
The Volta giants, however, have not managed to overcome the eighth stage of the last two years, their last defeat against school Mawuli.
However, boys are confident of having better chances in 2019.
Central Region
St Augustine's College scored 54 points, as did Edinaman SHS, but the first won the Regional Regional Champion title, beating even seeded schools.
They are therefore the name to watch in the central region. They also won the contest once.
* Brong Ahafo Region
The only girls' school to dominate a region, Our Lady Girls SHS finished in style with 50 points.
They are about to easily go through the preliminary rounds, their campaign having to be threatened from an eighth stage.
Upper West Region
St Ignatius of Loyola SHS with their 48 points were one of the schools to get the qualification of the first day.
They are also favored to get through the preliminaries. Their progress, however, is uncertain given the success of northern schools.
* Western Region
St John's School Sekondi dominated the region with 46 points. They also struggled to pbad the eighth stage lately.
Their progress will undoubtedly require a determination to break a spell.
Greater Accra
St John's grammar, based in Achimota in the capital, dominated the Greater Accra region with 44 pts. Achimota also came close with 43 points.
The grammar of St. John's, like Achimota, has not made much progress in the competition in recent years.
Upper East Region
Bolgatanga SHS entered the prelims with 40 points, the highest in the Upper East Region.
However, history does not favor them, any more than other schools in the region. Although they are the kings of the region, their progress after the preliminaries could result from the power of their opponents.
* Northern Region
They are perhaps the weakest region of the contest. With 33 points, the SHS based in Tamale, Ghana was the highest in the region, but the highest in the Northern region is below the school with the lowest qualification points in the Greater Accra – Ghanata region – 34 points.
It is therefore fair to conclude that the northern region could be destroyed by the eighth stage.
