Top African teams in FIFA rankings before AFCON

Just four days away from the 2019 Nations Cup of Nations, here are the top ranked African teams that will participate in the tournament. South Africa is not listed again in the top 10 of the continent.

Senegal remained ahead of the African teams after a qualification without defeat and 16 points in the qualifications of group A.

The Terenga Lions, who are among the favorites to win the CAN 2019, are 22nd overall, while Tunisia ranks 25th after winning five wins and one loss.

The Super Eagles complete the top three African nations, with Nigeria in 45th place. Gernot Rohr's team got their ticket to the AFC CAN one game late despite their loss to South Africa in Group E.

Morocco and the Democratic Republic of Congo, who have lost only one game in the playoffs, are the other two teams in the top five, men Hervé Renard occupying the 47th place overall and Congo in second place .

Ghana is ranked 50th in the world, followed by Cameroon, winner of 2017 CAN in 2017, and Egypt in 58th place.

Burkina Faso is the only team among the top 10 ranked African nations, which did not qualify for this year's tournament, while Mali completes the top 10.

For its part, South Africa's Stuart Baxter remained in 14th place on the continent despite a place on 72 in the overall standings.
