Former Manchester United defender Michael Clegg has been named coach of the strength and power of the club's first team.

Clegg made 16 appearances for United between 1996 and 2001, he played for England under-21 before playing a similar role with Sunderland after his retirement.

Clegg wrote on Twitter: "It's an honor to be back in the club I love and one of the best clubs in the world. It is certainly the work of my dreams. "

In addition, United has confirmed Ed Leng's appointment as the club's new chief scientist.

These are the latest breakthroughs in an Ole Gunnar Solskjaer background shuffle, following Richard Hartis' reappointment as a senior goalkeeper coach last month.
