Parliament formally responded to the arrest of the three #Dropthatchamber protesters who disrupted Parliament's work and called on Ghanaians to keep abad of the rules and regulations governing public conduct in its gallery.

This follows the arrest of three protesters Friday after interrupting the proceedings by shouting "drop this room" to express their dissatisfaction with the construction project of a new parliamentary chamber.

A statement signed by the Acting Director of Public Affairs of the Parliament, Kate Addo, said the protesters were foreigners in Parliament and their actions were contrary to the rules of the House.

"The rule is that any foreigner admitted to the public gallery is not allowed to take part in the deliberations of the Assembly. They are not allowed to take part in debates, to applaud or to take part in proceedings, in any form whatsoever, "she said.

One of the protesters, Ernesto Yeboah, head of the Economic Fighters League, was arrested in Parliament along with two other people for shouting, "Drop this room."
