Kate Addo, Acting Director of Public Affairs of Parliament, said the legislature would not pursue the case against the head of the Economic Fighters League, Ernesto Yeboah and another.

The two men were arrested by the police of Parliament for protesting in front of the House chamber.

They were taken out of the room by the Marshal's Office and the police, after having started shouting from the public gallery: "Give up this room" as MPs commented on the proposed construction of a new building.

Miss Addo pointed out that the actions of the Economic Fighters League showed how the House was exposed to danger every day.

Addressing GBC Radio Ghana, she stated that what happened yesterday (July 5) was simply a violation of the House's procedures. She said that there could have been a better way to express the concerns of the league.

Ms. Addo urged Ghanaians to always follow the process of reporting their concerns to Parliament.

Ernesto Yeboah (M) leads the group

The two protesters were arrested by the police after shouting from the public gallery "Let go of this room".

Ernesto Kofi Yeboah, Abeiku Adams and a third who remains to be identified have protested against a proposal to build a parliamentary complex at an estimated cost of $ 200 million.

Hammond justified the controversial plan by insisting that "the deputies can not sit under the trees".

His comment moved the protesters sitting in the public gallery, who then began to sing "Let this room go."

Security guards came to pick them up and detained them at the police station of the ministries. They were later released.
