The NDC of the opposition is asking the Electoral Commission (EC) to remove its online registration platform and increase the number of offline registration kits.

According to them, this will lessen the frustration that potential candidates had to face during the current limited enrollment exercise.

The party's president, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, remarked that "due to slow voter registration online, many candidates who had traveled long distances were forced to to return home after spending several hours in long queues.

He fears that this development deprives many eligible voters of their rights before the elections and the referendum of the District Assembly of December 2019.

"The frustrations and disappointments that potential candidates have been subjected to in order to exercise an inalienable right are unimaginable. Many candidates were forced to return home because voter registration online was not working, "said the president.

He added that if the EC had taken seriously the concerns raised by his party, the difficulties encountered during the registration would have been avoided, adding: "We do not like to show it in this way, but the CND is now justified ".

The EC has started the registration exercise in the hope of capturing the names of potential voters who have reached the age of 18 or people who have never registered before.

It is part of the Commission's preparations for the district, district, metropolitan, municipal and district elections.
