Women in Public Relations (PR) Ghana, a professional platform created for women in the communication and media sectors, held its third annual summit this weekend.

The event brought together top professionals from the sector to share their experience and pbad on knowledge to future professionals and students in the sector.

The theme of the summit, which was "Collaborate, Inspire, Lead" and the interactive style of the deliberations, allowed participants to approach resource personnel throughout the various topics.

Among the topics covered included: "The New Generation of PR Woman", "Encouraging Strategic Collaboration in the Digital Age", "Putting Entrepreneurship in Public Relations", "Relevance of Social Media and Context organizational in public relations management "and" Application of emotional intelligence to leadership ".

Faith Senam Ocloo, founder of Women in PR (WiPR) in Ghana, said the summit aimed to create a platform for PR women to network, learn, guide and share to generate growth in their respective organizations.

She said that women in public relations in this digital age had to use new methods to improve productivity and growth in the sector.

Adiki O. Ayitey, Vice President of Sustainable Development and External Relations at Newmont Goldcorp Africa, said the sector is successful in this sector and that collaboration is needed.

"You need to build a team that works towards the common goal of achieving your goals," she added, adding that for collaborations to be effective and successful, the following key concepts need to be considered: : support, team work, communication, etc. trust, motivation, inspiration.

Mr Gabriel Opoku-Asare, head of Diageo PLC's Africa Region, said the woman's public relations, as an eye of the organization, should be able to "get the job done." badyze, plan and advise management in its decision-making processes.

Sophia Lissa, communications manager of the Jaspong group of companies, said it was necessary that the PR woman also demonstrate entrepreneurial skills to bridge the gap in this digital age.

She said entrepreneurs are primarily pbadionate about their work, who take risks, who are solution-focused, who look for solutions, who challenge the status quo and who do not take a no for an answer.

The panels portion of the activity deliberated on "Emotional Intelligence and Leadership" with resource persons such as: Cynthia Ofori-Dwumfou, Ogilvy Public Relations Ghana; Emma Wenani, chief director of the Global Media Alliance; Ms. Baaba Cofie, Public Relations Consultant, MahoganyConsult; and Eric Rhiney, president of the management department of Webster University.
