President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo left the country on Saturday, July 6, 2019 to lead the Ghanaian delegation to the 12th Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of the Union which is being held in Niamey, capital of the Republic of Niger.
The summit will officially launch the operational phase of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA), after its maturity on May 30, 2019, when the 22nd Member State will have deposited its instrument of ratification at the Commission's Headquarters. AU in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

President Akufo-Addo will leave Niger on Monday, July 8, 2019 for a three-day official visit to France, at the invitation of its President, His Excellency Emmanuel Macron.
In addition to bilateral talks with President Macron, aimed at strengthening ties of cooperation and friendship between the two countries, President Akufo-Addo will meet with members of the Ghanaian community. deliver a speech at the France-Ghana Business Forum; visit the port of Marseille; and organize meetings with French multinationals such as Total and Société Générale.
The President will leave France on Thursday 11 July to take a one-week holiday as part of his annual leave.
He was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, the Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, MP; Minister of Trade and Industry Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen; Yofi Grant, General Manager of the Ghana Investment Promotion Center; and officials from the Presidency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
President Akufo-Addo will return to Ghana on 18 July 2019 and, in his absence, Vice-President Alhaji, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will replace his mandate in accordance with the provisions of Article 60 (8) of the Constitution.
