A few weeks ago, Samsung caused a sensation with the presentation of the Galaxy A80. Now comes the smartphone with the innovative rotating camera in the domestic trade. The world leader in the smartphone market announced Monday the start date and confirmed the price already announced at the presentation. The Galaxy A80 will be available in Austria from mid-July 2019 at a price of 649 euros (RRP).

With its 6.7-inch Full HD + Super AMOLED screen (1.080 x 2400 pixels) in 20: 9 format, the Galaxy A80 is almost a phablet. Due to spectacular camera turns (see below), there is no notch or hole in the display. The touch screen occupies almost the entire cover page. Powered by the eight-core Qualcomm SM7150 processor and proud of 8GB of RAM (!). The AI-based battery, processor and memory performance optimization is suitable for individual use. The expandable internal memory of the mircoSD card is also fine with 128 GB. The 3,700 mAh battery supports a fast charge function of 25 watts. WLAN, LTE and a built-in fingerprint sensor complete the very good equipment. Unfortunately, there is no IP certification (protection against water and dust).

Triple rotating camera
In terms of camera equipment, the Galaxy A80 outweighs the innovation. This is the first Samsung smartphone equipped with a triple rotating camera. The built-in camera module automatically extends to the back of the smartphone and rotates 180 degrees forward when the user activates the selfie mode. Thanks to the innovative mechanism, the Galaxy A80 still offers the same triple camera, whether you take a selfie or photograph the landscape, for example. The Triple system includes a 48-megapixel wide-angle lens, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle lens, and a time-of-flight (ToF) camera. This makes the A80 the third smartphone to use this technology after the Huawei P30 Pro and the Nokia 9 Pure View. The ToF lens allows the user to focus Live effects in video recordings by scanning the respective subject according to its dimensions and the effect of depth.

For video fans, the video stabilization built into Action Cam should be interesting. In addition, an optimization of the scene, capable of detecting and improving up to 30 different scenes, and a detection of faults, automatically signal the disturbances before the user goes off.

Dimensions, colors and accessories
The Galaxy A80 220g and 165.2 x 76.5 x 9.3 millimeters runs Android 9 "Pie" and is available in three colors: gold, silver and black. To protect you from scratches and shocks, Samsung offers the so-called Standing blanket with two retractable feet. It is available in black and white colors at a price of 34.90 euros (RRP).
