The National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ) is the oldest and most popular quiz competition held annually by Ghana's high schools since 1994.

With almost 24 years of existence, some schools have been more successful than others in the academic competition.

Before the final of the contest, Graphic Online (www.graphic.com.gh) looks at the most successful schools in NSMQ history.

1. Presbyterian High School for Boys (PRESEC) – Five (5) Trophies

Although the PRESEC boys are currently experiencing 10 years of trophy drought, they have won the NSMQ record five times. the NSMQ.

2. Prempeh College, Kumasi – Four (4) trophies

Prempeh won the first edition of the NSMQ in 1994 and went on to win three more times. They won in 1996, 2015 and 2017.

3. St. Peter's High School, Nkwatia – Three (3) trophies

St. Peter's is the defending champion of the NSMQ after winning the 2018 title. Their two previous victories were in 2000 and 2005.

4. Opoku Ware SHS, Mfantsipim School, Cape Coast and Achimota School, Accra – Two (2) Trophies

Opoku Ware won in 1997 and 2002, while Mfantsipim won in 1999 and 2014. Achimota won the NSMQ finals in 1998 and 2004.

5. One (1) trophy – Five (5) schools

Five schools have already won the NSMQ. The schools are; Pope John SHS, Koforidua, St. Augustine College, Cape Coast, Ghana Secondary Technical School, Takoradi, Adisadel College and SH Thomas.

Other facts

No girls' school has won the trophy
Aquinas is the only day school exclusively to win the trophy.
