– Police arrested four people in connection with illegal voter registration activities

– The identities of three of them have been revealed but the fourth remains unknown

– They were recovered as a result of a complaint filed by an official of the NDC

Four people were arrested in connection with fraudulent voter registration activities, YEN.com.gh has learned.

The suspects include leaders of the new Patriotic Party (NPP) and an official of the Electoral Commission (EC).

They have been charged with unlawful possession of EC's limited voter registration guarantors and other registration forms.

According to a report from Starrfm.com.gh, the suspects were recovered from the canteen of the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council, behind the regional minister's office, where they were busy filling out forms for new registrants.

They were identified: Kasim, the Nasara coordinator of the Asokwa constituency, Alidu, the youth leader of the Manhyia South constituency, Kyei, a staff member of the EC and another to be identified .

The suspect was handed over to the Ashanti Regional Police Command after an in camera meeting between officials of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the NPP and EC officials at the Kumasi Regional Electoral Commission headquarters.

YEN.com.gh understands that the suspects were detained following a complaint filed by the NDC Constituency Secretary for Asokwa.

At the same time, two other alleged members of NPP member Kwadaso, who were arrested on Friday, 5 July 2019 for attempted double registration, are still in police custody and should be brought to court on Monday. July 2019.
