Thousands of people took to the streets to protest what they describe as difficult living conditions under the NPP
Collins Owusu Amankwah, MP for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the constituency of Manhyia North, described the demonstration for economic reasons called "Kum Yen Preko" by the Coalition for Social Justice as a lifeline.
Mr. Amankwah said the demonstration was a creation of the National Democratic Congress that had been imposed on Ghanaians.
During a show on Badwam, Ad Am TV, Hon Amankwa expressed disappointment at the level of publicity given to the event.
"It's scary to see how much money has been paid for advertising the" Kum Yen Preko "event on TV and radio. The Ghana Association of Vehicle and Asset Dealers, who are even the initiators of the protest, canceled their decision to participate in the protest, "he said.
"The NDC has decided to launch the demo but I think we are only witnessing a flutter," he added.
The Minority Caucus in Parliament, the Greater Accra Women's Market Association, the Union of Concerned Drivers, the Union of Real Drivers, and Free Media Vanguard were among the groups that took part in the event.
