Do critics feel the love tonight? Will you be "prepared" for what they have to say about Disney's "not-all-to-live-action" remake, not-to-live-animated The Lion King? I hope so, because the first reactions have arrived and we have gathered several on the Web to give you an idea of Jon Favreau managed to capture the essence of the animated clbadic of 1994 thanks to its new technology.
The lion king early buzz
After taking 2016 The jungle Book Filmmaker Jon Favreau, who has raised $ 966 million worldwide, is back to tackle a remake of a clbadic Disney property. He used cutting-edge technology to bring history to life. Helping him on his journey is also a great casting, including Donald Glover like Simba, Beyonce Knowles-Carter like Nala, James Earl Jones returning as Mufasa, Alfre Woodard like Sarabi, Chiwetel Ejiofor as a scar, Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen like Timon and Pumbaa (respectively), John Oliver like Zazu, Shahadi Wright Joseph (Young Nala), JD McCrary (Young Simba), Florence Kasumba like Shenzi, Keegan-Michael Key like Kamari, and Eric Andre like Azizi.
So how did the new movie go? Here are some initial thoughts from Peter Sciretta / Film's:
#The Lion King is a breathtaking visual achievement. I can not believe it's an animated film in computer graphics. Timon and Pumbaa steal the show. It's a good remake of Disney but was it necessary? Maybe not, but it's nice and the families will love it.

#The Lion King: Better than I thought! The exaggerated emotions of the characters of the original still miss me a lot, but you get occasional flashes, and the vocal performances are largely sufficient to compensate for the rest. Eichner & Rogen steal the film.

That said … they owe a huge debt of gratitude to the original #The Lion King animators and writers, the film '94 being used beyond a blueprint – it's their storyboarding.

#The Lion King is a historical * visual * experience. I have never seen anything like it and I think it will forever change the way we watch movies.
As an * emotional * experience, however … I'll say it this way: it turns out that lions can not really get emotional.

Saint Smokes, I really liked LE LION KING. I think it's the most beautiful effects movie I've seen. As on the next level, the game has changed kind of thing. (For the record, I'm agnostic about the original movie and have no nostalgia, anyway, this movie caught me.)

I just got out of #The Lion King and really dug. My fear was realistic. The animals would not have the charisma of the cartoon, but they are very good. Timon and Pumba steal the show. Here is the official synopsis:
"The Disney Lion King, Directed by Jon Favreau, goes to the African savannah where a future King was born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his royal destiny.
