The government said it was unaware of the alleged sale of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) channels to private entities.

Deputy Information Minister Pius Hadzide, in an interview with Citi News, said the government was not aware of this development.

According to him, the government has not approved any such transaction.

S addressing Citi News, Deputy Information Minister Pius Hadzide said the government had approved no GBC channel sales.

"To my knowledge, the government has agreed to sell badets at GBC. We are not aware of the alleged sale. In terms of management and editorial discretion of the national broadcaster, the government has its limits, "said the deputy minister.

Public television is under tension following allegations that some of its channels have been sold to private companies against the leaders of the media organization.

The GBC staff union organized a demonstration on Monday to protest the case.

In particular, they feared that staff would lose their jobs and that the privatization process would not be legal.

According to the union, GBC management plans to sell GTV Govern, GTV Sports Plus and Obonu TV.

The union hoisted red flags and attached red fabrics to trees to protest the alleged decision.

According to reports, the workers allegedly asked the National Media Commission (NMC) to immediately dismiss certain members of the management for their role in the alleged sale of channels to a private investor.

Some members of management, whose workers want the CNG to take action, are Augustus Yamson, Acting Director General, John Kwame Waja, Director of Legal Resources, and Ebenezer Ampaabeng, Deputy Director of Television.

"GBC management has neither publicly indicated, nor publicly announced, nor invited other well-meaning Ghanaians who may also want to enter into an agreement with GBC in the same direction, in order to apply for a call from 39; offers, "said part of the petition.
