The National Youth Authority (NYA) has called for legislative measures that will eliminate all forms of discrimination against young women and enable them to participate "actively, fairly and effectively" in decision-making at home. all levels.

He spoke at the Young Women's Empowerment Network (NYWE) meeting during an interactive session with queens mothers who met to discuss issues facing young women. of the region.

NYWE is a youth-led group created by NYA in the Upper West West region to empower women and girls to participate actively in the decision-making process.

It also aims to provide young women with a platform to advocate for adolescent girls and to advocate for gender issues.

Mr. Donkoh said that the potential of women to contribute effectively to national development can not be underestimated.

"One of the problems faced by many young women in the country is the lack of opportunities for their participation in the decision-making process," he said.

He called for conscientious efforts to change the status quo of young women in society, so that they can reach their full potential and contribute to the needs of society.

Ida T. Nakaar, president of NYWE, said the network provided a platform for women and girls to make their own decisions.

They had the opportunity to address the challenges facing young women, she said, and the network was protected by the principles of accountability, transparency, honesty and integrity.
Mr. Eric Ayaba, Plan International's program unit officer, said women had been left behind in their development contributions and urged the network to address this problem.

He called on queens mothers in the region to develop their interest in the network and to support the efforts of their members.
