Ghana is the last country to obtain a visa-free status from the South African government.
The Department of Home Affairs of South Africa has added Ghana to a list of seven countries whose nationals will be allowed to enter South Africa without a visa.
South Africa announced in September 2018 that it was finalizing a number of visa waiver agreements with other countries, including Ghana, to allow travelers to enter the country without a visa.
According to Interior Minister Aaron Motsoaledi, citizens of seven countries can enter South Africa without a visa.
"Tourism will skyrocket if we relax visa requirements to enter South Africa. We know that tourism is very important for the creation of jobs, "he said today at an information meeting in South Africa.
"Of the 193 UN member countries, the Department has granted visa-free status to 75 countries. Of these, 16 are on our continent and are members of SADC and 59 are from around the world. "
Today, we want to announce an addition to our countries without a visa.
These are:

•New Zealand
•Saudi Arabia
•Cuba
•Ghana

South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, New Zealand, Cuba and Sao Tome and Principe are also on the list of visa-free countries.
Mr Motsoaledi said his office would immediately begin discussions with the respective countries on the operation of a visa-free regime.
He added that further discussions would also be organized for countries such as China, India and Nigeria.
"As we deal with the three-country issue, we will increase this two-and-a-half times the number of people working for home affairs to handle visas in China and India.
"We will double the number of people who process visas in our country in Nigeria," he said.
