American Airlines apologized to a Texan doctor for asking him to cover himself with a blanket before being allowed to catch the plane.

Dr. Latisha Rowe was traveling from Jamaica to Miami on June 30 when she and her eight-year-old son were invited to get off the plane shortly before take-off.

An air hostess told her, she said, that her outfit – a strapless jumpsuit printed in bright colors – was "too distracting". The officer asked her if she had a jacket, then she was forced to cover herself with a blanket before going back into the plane.

His Twitter account on the incident, with pictures of his outfit, went viral and over 10,000 people answered the call.

"I am disgusted," she wrote, explaining that her son had been moved to tears by the incident, stressing that his outfit did not expose excessive flesh. "I tweet so I do not cry."
