Even by Chelsea standards, it was not long.

After the Dublin club scored an equalizer in the 89th minute in Frank Lampard's first match, local fans chanted, "You're fired in the morning".

Of course, he was in a good mood in what was always going to be a low-key start in a new field.

Old Trafford will host Frank Lampard's first Premier League game as Chelsea manager on August 11th.

This match could not have been organized in a more contrasting environment, the less salubrious Dalymount Park in Dublin.

Lampard was in the technical zone as Chelsea's boss for the first time and feared no sticks from local fans behind the canoe.

It has become two stadium stands that are too old and dangerous to accommodate spectators.

Some of Chelsea's players also appeared to be doomed, but Lampard kept his word and defeated the unsatisfactory players at Stamford Bridge.

Lampard played two completely different teams in each half with Kenedy Danny Drinkwater and Michy Batshuayi, who scored the goal in the eighth minute, all starting.

Tiemoue Bakayoko, who spent last year in Milan, also appeared.

But you have to wonder how many of these players will be running against Manchester United next month.

Although many Chelsea youths made their appearance, Evan Ferguson, 14, a substitute for the Bohemians in the second half, almost eclipsed their age and almost scored.

Chelsea's team was so large that the Dublin club gave them the locker room and the players' bar.

The men of Lampard will play another game in Dublin Saturday against St Patrick before traveling to Japan to face Kawasaki Frontale and Barcelona.

The Bohemians, who are in the middle of their national season, charged 30 euros to watch the game, double the normal amount, though they enjoyed Eric Molloy's last goal.

And Chelsea fans who paid £ 10.99 to see the pre-season online games complained that the site was continually collapsing, forcing the club to apologize.

As often in these games, fans have not missed much.

Lampard, however, was quite happy with the young Blues.

He said: "It was a difficult first match for us because we have not been back for a long time, just a few days.

"So there was some pressure on the guys and we worked them very hard and I'm happy with the result.

"Fitness was our problem, I wanted to stretch them a little and put them under pressure.

"That's what the pre-season is and the sooner we reach the level we want, the better. We wanted to win the match as you always do, but that's not the point.

"It's about fit and surpbading people and I thought some of the performances – especially the younger ones – were really good."

The 41-year-old added that a number of senior players would be back for the match against St. Pat's Saturday.
