More on the parade: Thousands of super fans from across the country have descended into the Canyon of Heroes, where the US National Football Team is being celebrated for the second time with a confetti parade in the heart of New York.
Spectators were seen doubling Broadway, between the drums and City Hall, before dawn, well before the start of the parade on Wednesday at 9:30. Just before the kickoff, the American players hugged each other as they climbed on their colorful float, Megan Rapinoe sipping a glbad of champagne with a smile.
Later, cheers erupted and flags were brandished en mbade as world champions threw themselves into the parade of victories, taking many selfies along the way.
The festivities take place four years after the day the crowd threw loads of confetti into the city to celebrate the team and its title of the 2015 Women's World Cup. This year, fans have been tipped to have a preview of the heroes of the 2019 Women's World Cup, including Alex Morgan, Rose Lavelle, Carli Lloyd, Tobin Heath, Ali Krieger, Kelly O'Hara, Ashlyn Harris and Jill Ellis.
