Wa, July 10, GNA – National Youth
(NYA) called for legislation that will eliminate all
forms of discrimination against young women and allow them to participate
"Actively, equally and effectively" in decision-making at all levels.
"It will sensitize young women to their
rights and the opportunity to contribute immensely to the development of society ",
Mr. Archibald Donkoh, Acting Regional Director of the State of New York on behalf of NYA.

Meeting on empowerment (NYWE) during an interactive session with queens mothers
who met to discuss issues facing young women in the region.
NYWE is a youth-led group created by NYA in
the Upper West region to empower women and girls to participate actively in the
decision-making process.
It also aims to provide young women with
advocacy platform on adolescent issues and gender champion
related issues.
Mr. Donkoh said that the potential of women to
contributing effectively to national development can not be underestimated.
"One of the problems faced by many young people
women in the country are inadequate opportunities for their participation in
decision-making process, "he said.
He called for conscious efforts
to change the status quo of young women in society so that they can
reach their full potential and contribute to the needs of society.
Ida T. Nakaar, President of NYWE, said that the
network has provided women and girls with a platform to make decisions
is.
They had the opportunity to
the challenges facing young women, she said, and that the
network was protected by the principles of accountability, transparency, honesty and
integrity
Mr. Eric Ayaba, Head of the Program Unit of
Plan International, said that women have been left behind in terms of
contribution to development and urged the network to fill this gap.
