A double against Tranmere Rovers will not be enough to convince the Reds boss of his talents – but the young man seems to be on the right track
Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp was pleased with the impact of his marginal players on Thursday's friendly win, but warned that football was not limited to mere goals.
The Reds returned to work at Prenton Park beating 6-0 Tranmere Rovers.
Nathaniel Clyne, Curtis Jones, Divock Origi and Bobby Duncan all scored, as did Rhian Brewster, who scored two goals before half-time.
Publisher's choice
Klopp, however, was anxious not to raise Brewster's high expectations with a single brace.
"First of all, we are in 2019, we should stop talking about the player who scored two goals and neglect what the others did during the remaining 89 minutes," the manager told reporters.
"Rhian Brewster, I love this boy.It is a fantastic player, but one of the goals that I would have scored.
"He played really well and I saw other good performances – Harry [Wilson] and Ryan [Kent] in the first half and then in the second half incredibly loud. We knew that Rhian was a good player before.
"Why should I downplay that?" I just do not want to talk after a game of the guy who scored two goals, I saw a very good game and Rhian is a fantastic player, we can talk about him without a problem. I do not want to scorn him or down him. "
Brewster has not yet made his competitive debut at the Reds, but Klopp suggested that while he was working hard, he could figure in his first team plans this season.
"One hundred percent [it is a big season] but it also depends on him. Divock Origi remains, which is good news. Bobby Firmino is still here, "he added.
"Rhian Brewster is a great striker, he is a great talent and I already told him that he had an important role to play this year, but its importance depends on him.We will see well.He must also occupy different positions – the center, The wing is possible, I think, we'll see how we align, but there will be opportunities for him.

"Rhian Brewster, Oxlade-Chamberlain did not play last year, all the young boys did not play for us last year. The transfer market is open.We will see what we do, but I do not think it will be the biggest transfer window of all time.
"They should be happy and have confidence in themselves, but it's not like we're saying we're winners of the Champions League 24 hours a day." It looked like they were all confident tonight During the season, we must win something new and not look back.We want to play the best season we can play.
"It's a tough pre-season for us – Sadio [Mane] is the [African Cup of Nations] in the semifinal, meaning that he has two other matches and that he will come late, the Brazilians have finally finished a 13-month season. We will not have a pre-season together just one week before the start of the games. We sought tonight to find solutions. It was a good sign for us, but we must be better than last season. "
