Liverpool's transfer window will not be "the biggest" – Klopp

(Reuters) – Liverpool will not have a lot of free time before the new Premier League season. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and his opponent Rhian Brewster should be in the running for first place, said manager Juergen Klopp.

Midfielder Oxlade-Chamberlain played only two games last season due to a serious knee injury. Liverpool finished second behind Manchester City in the league, but won the Champions League by defeating Tottenham Hotspur in the final.

Brewster has not yet made his competitive debut, but the 19-year-old reminded Klopp of his abilities with a brace in a friendly pre-season win 6-0 at Tranmere Rovers on Thursday.

"We've already brought them, you do not realize it," Klopp told reporters about possible signatures.

"Brewster, Oxlade-Chamberlain did not play last year. All young boys today … they are all new players for us. "

Sepp van den Berg, 17-year-old defender, was recruited by the Dutch first-division team PEC Zwolle last month while Danny Ings, Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno left the club.

"The transfer market is open until August 8 … we will see what we are doing, but I do not think it will be the biggest window of transfer ever," added Klopp.

Klopp praised Brewster after the match at Prenton Park, saying the young man had played an important role in the new campaign that began with a home game against promoted Norwich City on August 9.

"Rhian Brewster is an excellent striker … I'm really happy, he played an important role this year, but how important it is that depends on him and we will see," added the German.

"He has to play different positions because the center is OK, the wing is possible and then we will see how we can align. I am really sure that there will be opportunities for him. "
