Five things to watch – Perth Glory:

1. Bruno Fornaroli – The Uruguayan has been for two seasons the most dangerous player of the A-League. El Tuna (The Prickly Pear) was suspended outside of Melbourne City last season by former United coach Warren Joyce. Fornaroli has been cooling his planes for several months and will be eager to bring his talents back to the world.
2. exiles – The Glory team includes a number of players experienced in English football and Neil Kilkenny, a man who knows what it is to beat Man Utd since his stint in Leeds. Shane Lowry was a United fan during his childhood while Jake Brimmer was on display in Liverpool.
3. Kids – The starting lineup of Perth is full of superior organs, but the bench is an eye on the future. Tony Popovic has the reputation of being reluctant to upset young players. It will be instructive to know who he is confident of appearing tonight.
4. Popa – Speaking of the coach, it would not be surprising to see that the most brilliant prospect of management in Australian football is coming soon to a profile appointment. A pending Socceroos coach, Popovic, had already drawn the attention of the former Crystal Palace club and a good performance tonight would not hurt his reputation.
5. Optus Stadium – Australia has an abundance of state-of-the-art multipurpose arenas, including 60,000 seats in Perth. Cradle of the Australian teams of test of ashes, Australian football and the great final A-League, United will be delighted with this installation after having been a victim of uneven surface during previous adventures.

Five things to watch – Man Utd:

1. New dedications – Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James are not galactico rookies that United fans have become used to, but that may not be a bad thing. The inability of the Glazer family to appoint a football director to take on long-term team development has resulted in a series of missteps since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson. Wan-Bissaka and James are turning to Solksjaer to put the long-term interests of the club beyond his immediate ambitions.
2. Pogba – United's record signing may be the saga of the summer transfers, but if he stays at the club and is part of the tour he will have to commit. Whether he does it or not, and how he is received by coaches and teammates on the way, will be closely examined.
3. Kids – Tahith Chong, Mason Greenwood, James Garner and Angel Gomes have all been promised at the top for some time. Their chances of enjoying a regular playing time have increased with the dismissal of Jose Mourinho and matches like this one tonight offer the opportunity to capture the attention of Solksjaer.
4. Solskjaer – Goalkeeper Ole was straight out of a Roy of the Rovers comic book, but once he was rewarded with the full-time concert, the magic quickly dissipated. At the beginning of his first pre-season at the helm, it will be fascinating to watch his progress. Will he look to make big statements from the beginning? How will he manage Pogba and Lukaku? Are there any tactical adjustments to identify?
5. Intention – This is the first of five preseason games for United and comes after a week of intensive training and a flight of nearly 24 hours. Therefore, they might be forgiven for taking things easy, but after finishing last season, no one will want to risk rotting.

Tony Popovic is not going to die worrying. His starting lineup is as mature as expected for this preparatory phase with nine regulars from the recent Premier League A-League campaign, as well as new recruits, Jacob Tratt and, more specifically, Bruno Fornaroli. The bench is filled with children and we are sure to see them at a time of night, maybe even the son of the coach, Kristian.

The headlines are not Lukaku, while Pogba starts on the bench. According to United, Lukaku is beating and should appear against Leeds on Wednesday.

Hello and welcome to a special minute-by-minute preparatory session to keep an eye on the action of the opening match of the Manchester United preparatory tour. Preparations for the new campaign begin against the formation of the A-League, Perth Glory, with the scheduled kickoff to Optus Stadium around 19:00 local time (21:00 on the Australian east coast or 12:00 in the UK ).

It's not the first time in recent years that United has had a tumultuous pre-season. The first transfer window of Ole Gunnar Solskjær in the hot seat has already been the subject of intense speculation about the future of the signing of the Paul Pogba record, questions as to whether Romelu Lukaku will start the season at Old Trafford and a renewed dissatisfaction of the fans towards the club. All this turmoil is magnified by a trophy cabinet that was not furnished last season as fierce rivals Manchester City and Liverpool strengthen.

Better news, two new faces have arrived to illuminate the place. Aaron Wan-Bissaka did not come cheap, but he should provide the back side the lack of speed since Antonio decided to no longer want to go to the starting line while Daniel James offers a blazing cadence. Both of them should be present tonight, along with some of the club's most promising youngsters while Solskjær is reshaping their heritage.

Perth Glory may not be familiar to United fans, but do not underestimate them. Glory finished the final season of the A-League at the top of the standings, but lost the grand final at a penalty shootout. Their national success is based on the meticulous preparation of former Crystal Palace coach Tony Popovic and a mbadive backbone hosted by former Leeds United midfielder Neil Kilkenny.
