LIBSON, Maine (AP) – A Maine town is showing its moxie this weekend.
The Moxie festival dedicated to the original soda begins Saturday with a parade, music and a slips contest in Lisbon.
The creator of this original drink was a man from Maine, Dr. Augustin Thompson, whose beer had originally been marketed "Moxie Nerve Foods" in Lowell, Mbadachusetts.
It is now Maine's official drink.
Polarizing soda is an acquired taste. The late Frank Anicetti said that people might want to recruit him at once, but those who persevered in the fight would be rewarded with "the true flavor of Moxie".
