Thanks to the attentive fans, we knew that there was a high probability that Billy Hargrove was possessed by Mind Flayer during the third season of Strange things. The season poster showed it in Upside Down and one of the caravans in the series featured a scene where he was watching a bite on the arm.
When the season started on July 4th, fans were delighted to find that they were right: Billy had been infected right from the very first episode. During the remainder of the season, Billy helped to find more casualties to bring back into the Flayer mind until an entire army of Flayed was formed. The season finale was marked by a confrontation with our favorite kids and it seemed like Billy could manage to kill Eleven when his powers suddenly disappeared.
But just when Billy was lucky enough to give Eleven the Flayer mind, she managed to use what she'd seen from her past – namely her mother, and her father's visions of her. Aggressive in his childhood – to help Billy get out of it. . Instead, he decides to sacrifice himself and have the monster killed, sparing the life of our daughter and leaving Joyce and Hopper time to shut down the machine that led to Upside Down.
While some fans thought that Billy was getting what he deserved (remember when he was a fool towards Max, Lucas, and Steve, and … you understand the point), other fans have thought that & # 39; It was noble that the old tyrant lay down his life for the sake of Hawkins.
While Billy's change of heart has come a little a little late – it happened literally 48 minutes after the start of the episode – redemption is always redemption. Or as A Reddit user says it succinctly: "RIP Billy, you were a fool, but now you're a hero."
