Stephanie Niznik, actress of Star Trek and Everwood, pbaded away at the age of 52.

The star died "unexpectedly" on June 23 at her home in Enrico, California.

Stephanie was originally from Bangor, Maine, USA. She first considered becoming a geneticist before graduating from Duke University with a major in theater and Russian.

She then did a master's degree at Cal Arts, which then led roles in Vanishing Son and Murder She Wrote.

Stephanie appeared alongside Marvel stars Chris Pratt and Emily VanCamp in the teen drama of the mid-2000s, Everwood.

She has also performed in a number of recurring roles in some of America's biggest TV hits of the last decade or so, including Lost, NCIS and CSI: Miami.

The most important role of Stephanie in the film was Trill Starfleet Ensign Kell Perim in the movie Star Trek: Insurrection.

She then returned to the world of Star Trek, when she performed the Wraith in the "Rogue Planet" episode of the Star Trek: Enterprise series.

Her colleagues at Everwood quickly paid tribute to Stephanie on Twitter, sharing their dismay at her pbading.

Another Everwood co-star, Vivien Cardone, also shared her thoughts on Stephanie's pbading.

She wrote on Twitter: "An absolutely beautiful soul, left too early. So grateful to have met, worked and learned from a woman so strong, confident, kind and amazing.

"You'll miss Steph so much."
