Father Michael Lapsley, a South African Anglican priest and activist for social justice, is scheduled to pay a historic visit to Ghana.

Father Lapsley went to the Vatican in June of this year, where he met with Pope Francis and recounted part of his journey, including the crucial experience of receiving a letter bomb that cost him the money. hands with both hands.

Pope Francis was visibly moved by his story. During the meeting, Father Lapsley explained how his bombing had led to his call to create a healing work of memoirs that ultimately led to the creation of the Healing Memories Institute (IHOM).

It was initially in the damaged country of South Africa during the era of apartheid, in addition to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and later in the entire world.

He is expected to arrive in Ghana on Monday, July 22, 2019.

His visit to Ghana is made possible by the Ghana Healing of Memories Support Team, which includes the Michael Lapsley Foundation, ACAT Ghana and the Healing of Memories Team from Luxembourg.

The next day, July 28, 2019, he is invited to hold a public lecture and to launch a book on healing the plague of the past at Christ the King in Accra.

Father Lapsley is director of the Institute for Healing Memories (IHOM) in South Africa.

He is also canon for healing and reconciliation at Cape Anglican Cathedral and Edmonton, Canada.

He has seen many translations of his memoirs, Redeeming the Past (14 language editions to date), including in German, Spanish, French, Arabic and Thai, which shows that his history and the work of the IHOM have a universal resonance.
