Song Hye-kyo criticized for having a good time at ritual events after Song Joong-ki filed for divorce – Asean +

SEOUL (ANN): At the beginning, many Internet users were on the side of South Korean actress Song Hye-kyo.

They felt that the 33-year-old actor Song Joong-ki had a nasty surprise with his revelation on June 26 that he had asked to be divorced.

She was in Thailand to do a photo shoot for an advertiser.

The two stars of the 2016 drama Descendants Of The Sun were married in 2017.

Hye-kyo, 37, has not yet commented on this breakup, but she has not let the case affect her career. She appeared in China a week after breaking news at a promotional event for a Korean cosmetics company.

During the weekend, she was in Monaco, where she met celebrities such as actress Natalie Portman and Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova at a jewelry show in Chaumet.

But this latest public comment was not very well received by some netizens, who said they were uncomfortable to see her having fun so soon after a serious divorce that changed their lives.

"It does not look distressed for me," noted one user. Another said: "Divorce is not a crime, but how can you smile and try to look beautiful as if nothing had happened?"

Yet another person wrote, "It would be more considerate for her partner if she was silent for the moment."

Others in the anti-Hye-kyo camp pointed out that the divorce had so affected Joong-ki's father that he would have refused to leave his home, embarrbaded and upset by what his son had made.

They said that a theme park Descendants Of The Sun, South Korea, could also be ruined by a drastic drop in the number of visitors.

But Hye-kyo supporters suppress the negative discourse.

"Yes, go out there and show the world that you are dignified, elegant, clbady and handsome," said one of them.

As for Joong-ki, industry observers said he was sympathetic.

His agency said that he was moving away from public events, which is considered a good thing to do after divorce in South Korea, still conservative. – The Straits Times / Asia News Network
