Wayne Rooney calls Jurgen Klopp's "only mistake" as Liverpool arrives in the United States

Wayne Rooney has made only one mistake in his career: managing Liverpool.

The German guided Liverpool in the Champions League last season after missing the first division of one point.

He hopes his team will go even better with Liverpool, who will be Manchester City's closest opponent.

They will continue their preparations for the new campaign in the United States with Klopp and his team arriving in Indiana Tuesday before their clash with Dortmund.

But Rooney, who has played for Liverpool's two biggest rivals, Everton and Manchester United, would like it to be elsewhere.

The former England captain told Bild: "Jurgen is a manager for whom any player would like to play.

"You can see how much his players have a lot of fun playing under him, I've met him once, he's an amazing guy."

"His only mistake is that he works for Liverpool and succeeds.

"I have a lot of respect for Jurgen Klopp and for what he has already accomplished, not only in Liverpool, but also in Dortmund.

"This guy really does, and he still has his best years on him."

Liverpool players invaded Indiana after defeating Bradford in their second preseason friendly match Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp welcomed Virgil van Dijk, Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum and Trent Alexander-Arnold. They could all play a role against Dortmund.

Liverpool will face the Germans in the early hours of Saturday, as well as Seville and Sporting during their tour in the United States.

Andy Lonergan joined the team of the first team for the preparatory tour to work with the goalie department.

Goalkeeper coach John Achterberg said, "We are doing it because we are obviously very light in the field of goalies."

"Basically, we brought him to training and we can try to help him get in shape and we'll see how that goes. It's like he's helping us and helping him get in shape. "
