The Ningo Prampram District Assembly (NiPDA) has been the subject of a social audit to badess the effectiveness of its activities in local communities.

The exercise, which consists of a community-led evaluation, consists of verifying the projects carried out by the Assembly and verifying on the ground that they are well executed.

Speaking before the Ghana News Agency (GNA) Thursday after the presentation of the audit committee's report, Ningo Prampram district general manager, Mr. Jonathan Teye Doku, hinted that the exercise was important and that the badembly would continue. give the commission all the support needed to evaluate the work of the Assembly.

Mr. Doku said, "I think it is important because we have received the resources to undertake projects in the district. It is therefore important to allow others to evaluate your work. We are supposed to be accountable to the people we serve. Obtaining information on what we have done right or wrong helps to define the policies and projects in which the Assembly embarks. "

The WFD stated that the Assembly leadership could not be the repository of all knowledge and knowledge. It was therefore prudent to always engage people to determine "what their interests were, what their needs were, what we had implemented, what challenges had done well, what we had done wrong, etc." "

In response to some observations of engineering faults on the facilities they visited, Mr. Doko noted that the Assembly would hold the contractors accountable for any defects.

He said: "There was always a period of responsibility for defects. If the contractor delivers the facilities to the Assembly, it is during the six-month period that we review some of these things. That's why we do not pay the total amount; ten percent for retention until we are satisfied that everything was complete. "

The WFD said that the doors of the NiPDA were still open for such exercises, especially when the Assembly had nothing to hide, as this would help improve the quality of the results.

Ms. Damago, who is also responsible for planning the development of the NiPDA, said that the Assembly, which was the first to undergo the exercise, supported the audit committee in its work and ensured that the exercise went smoothly.

She said: "We have taken the development plan of the General Assembly and obtained the annual plan of action; so we took over the activities, which included percentages of implementation.

But to find out if really what they said in the action plan was a reflection of what was happening on the ground, we took the progress report that told you what was going on in the field. "

The focal person stated that the committee had made decisions on health, education and agriculture, and that they each took a project in the following areas: a teacher's bungalow, a CHPS complex and a project for agriculture.

According to the committee's report, the six-unit teacher's bungalow was 96% complete but was not connected to the water and electricity supply, a situation which exceeded that of the Assembly because the NiPDA was applied to the appropriate sectors and was still waiting.

The CHPS compound was also 96% complete and was actually used even though it was not officially handed over to health authorities.

With respect to agriculture, the 40 selected participants all followed the program and the committee saw their returns.

"This has encouraged more women to go to the farm, especially because after the training, a woman won the title of best farmer in the district. Others wanted to participate in the exercise and called for more such programs to be organized, "said Zubaida.

The audit committee that embarked on the exercise consisted of the Assembly focal person, two people from community organizations and two queens mothers from traditional Ningo and Prampram councils.
