Thailand announces alert to dengue fever after 62 deaths

BANGKOK – The Thai Ministry of Public Health (MSP) has initiated measures to deal with the number of dengue patients, which is expected to increase with the rainy season.

From January 1 to July 9, 2019, there were 44,671 dengue patients and 62 deaths from dengue fever.

People are advised to see a doctor immediately if they have had a high fever for two days and their condition has not improved.

The MSP announced today that the number of dengue patients was likely to increase in all provinces, in line with the usual epidemic cycle.

From January 1 to July 9, 2019, there were more than 44,000 dengue patients and 62 deaths. In June, there were more than 15,000 dengue patients and 13 deaths.

People are advised to consult a doctor immediately if they have a high fever for more than 2 days.

Other warnings: dark urine, chills and loss of appetite.

It is strongly recommended against them to buy medicines to cure themselves.

Hospitals have been tasked with screening patients and medical specialists to counsel and treat at-risk groups and patients with symptoms of dengue fever.

All areas of the community have been asked to destroy Aedes mosquito breeding sites.
