This is a reversal of CAN's previous stance on the rape scandal, after baderting that COZA is not a member and that involvement in this case would be outside its jurisdiction.

In a video broadcast yesterday in the early hours of the day and currently in fashion on social media, CAN officials were seen at the Sunday service of COZA, declaring their solidarity with Fatoyinbo and the church.

Among them are Jonah Samson, president of the CAN at FCT, and Israel Akanji, president of the north central zone of the CAN.

"It is a pleasure to be here and I badure you that we are with you and that we will continue to be with you. We support the church. We support your pastor.

"We are at his side and this church will continue to move forward. I say and I declare, the gates of hell will not prevail in any church in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen, said Samson.

For his part, Akanji described the rape allegation as a "Jerusalem-Jericho road", adding that he was forced to take a stand on behalf of the church and the clergyman concerned.

He said, "How can I, then the president of the FCT, hear this church for which God has a plan and purpose, go through that Jerusalem-Jericho road and then we will leave?

"We will not do such a thing. We are here to let you know that we are with you in prayer. The Lord will make you come out even stronger. "
