Two people arrested for missing car in Savannah area

Two people were arrested by police in Tamale in connection with the disappearance of Toyota Hilux belonging to the Savannah Regional Coordination Council.

It is Alhaji Suleimana Illiasu, the plaintiff and the person in whose care the vehicle was placed, and Opoku Kwadjo Evans, the driver who had been instructed to deliver the vehicle to Alhaji Illiasu.

They were arrested on Tuesday, July 16, 2019.

Meanwhile, police investigations are underway to find and recover the vehicle.

The new vehicle recently handed over by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to the newly created Savannah region was reportedly stolen by armed robbers.

The police therefore opened an investigation to find the missing 4×4 pickup belonging to the Savannah Regional Coordination Council (SRCC).

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DSP), Mr. Mohammed Yusif Tanko, Police Public Relations Officer for the Northern Region, the vehicle was parked in the residence of a certain Alhaji Illiasu in Tamale.

Alhaji Illiasu is a friend of the Savannah Regional Minister, Mr. Salifu Adam Braimah. So the minister went to park the vehicle at his home while he was [Minister] traveled out of town for a meeting.
