The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has revealed that 82% of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) stations in the central region are dangerous to people's property and lives.

According to the NPA, 67 of the 81 LPG stations in the region were found to be at a high level of danger to life and property. The figure was released after a risk badessment exercise of all LPG retail outlets in the region.

This disclosure was made at a public meeting organized by the NPA on the bottle recirculation (CRM) model of the distribution of LPG in Cape Coast, capital of the region, on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, by the regional minister, Kwamena Duncan.

Speaking at the event, titled "CRM: Creating More Jobs, Securing Our Future," he explained that all high-risk stations would see their outlets converted into distribution centers. of cylinders as part of the CRM "risk stations will be considered as automatic fillings only."

The Central Regional Minister also said: "The CRM is focused on you, the marketers and LPG distributors; therefore, when we hear about job losses, the facts obviously do not support this conclusion. "

Mr. Duncan also badured that the government was aware of the local content law which states that such a business must be fully reserved for Ghanaian participation. non-Ghanaians will not be allowed to operate under this model. "

Addressing participants, Mr. Samuel Asare Bediako, coordinator of the Unified Oil Price Fund at NPA, who represented the Director General, recalled that more than 4,500 direct jobs would be created at the launch of CRM.

He said that the customer relationship management system must guarantee safety and good environmental practices in the production, marketing and consumption of LPG, and "guarantee the sustainability of local supply and content as well as participation in the LPG subsector in accordance with the local downstream content policy ".

On his part, Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XII, chairman of the Regional Chamber of Chiefs of the Central Region and the Omanhene Sultanate of Gomoa Ajumako, called on the population to support the new policy and badured the continued support of the head of the region to ensure full implementation.

The plenary session on C was part of a national exercise to raise public awareness of politics.

The exercise also aims to obtain public input for the successful implementation of the policy to meet the needs of the consumer.

Most importantly, the purpose of the Customer Relationship Management System is to provide guidelines for the marketing and distribution of LPG in a safe and efficient manner, to facilitate increased access to LPG at the national level.

The bottle recirculation model includes the filling of LPG cylinders in designated filling plants prior to subsequent distribution to customers in retail outlets called exchange points.
