The management of Barclays Bank Ghana and Ghanaian academics from the African Leadership University (ALU) visited the South African High Commissioner, his High Commissioner, Thapelo Madumane, on the occasion of the celebration of the Nelson Mandela Day this year.

The courtesy call, which was part of the Nelson Mandela Day celebrations, aimed to create a platform for young leaders and the South African High Commissioner to share their ideas and thoughts on education and leadership. Africa, two areas that Madiba loved.

As part of its commitment to providing quality education across the continent, Absa Group Limited has supported 50 of the 100 fully funded ALU bursaries.

In her speech, Nana Essilfuah Boison, director of marketing and business relations at Barclays Ghana, said 10 Ghanaian students were benefiting from a three-year scholarship program. and a half, worth about 350,000 dollars (1.7 million GHS). "We are determined to equip young people with knowledge and to play an active role in society as future leaders," she added.

Addressing ALU academics, HE Thapelo Madumane encouraged students to live by the core values ​​and legacy of Nelson Mandela and to contribute to Africa's development by taking responsibility for the transformation of companies. "Imitate the life and legacy of Madiba and do things differently in a positive way that will bring transformation and growth to development across the continent," Madumane said.

Agnes Fusese presented the highlights of her first year at ALU as part of the Nelson Mandela Centennial Scholarship and its impact on their personal lives up to now. Agnes thanked the High Commissioner for his words of encouragement.
