Training in Liverpool: 5 things we noticed while the Reds enjoy the second day of their American tour

Liverpool was put to the test in the United States for the second time on Wednesday morning.

The Reds arrived in the United States earlier this week and went to the Indiana training ground to prepare for Friday's friendly against Borussia Dortmund at Notre Dame stadium.

Klopp's travel groups are still without Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Alison Becker after their international action this summer.

This means that many young players and those who are on the sidelines are looking to seize their chance to impress and prove their value.

Here are five things we noticed during their last practice as they intensified their preparations after two pre-season wins on Tranmere and Bradford before leaving for their US tour.

Sepp van den Berg listened carefully to new manager Jurgen Klopp

1) A new boy takes advice on board

Sepp van den Berg is already part of the first Liverpool team after his summer replacement of PEC Zwolle.

The 17-year-old Dutch defender went to America for the Reds pre-season tour in an effort to impress his new manager, Jurgen Klopp.

The highly rated teenager should not be in the starting lineup at the start of the competition.

But he was seen listening carefully to Klopp's advice while he was trying to imbibe the experience early in his career in Liverpool.

Virgil van Dijk was back in the fire of action while he was looking at another great year

2) Van Dijk back in force

Virgil van Dijk had a busy summer after his UEFA Champions League exploits.

He was in action from the League of Nations for the Netherlands and was one of the many players to have benefited from extra club leave.

The Dutch central back returned to Melwood at the weekend and underwent his fitness tests.

He is now back in the United States, photographed at the heart of the training action as he watches another driving season at Anfield.

3) Robertson back in action

Andy Robertson saw his pre-season schedule slightly delayed due to a small operation at hand.

But the popular back was fit to make the trip to the United States and was back to training on Wednesday morning.

He is now ready to appear immediately if Jurgen Klopp asks for it.

"It's a blunder to decide, but I think I'm ready for Friday," Robertson told Liverpoolfc.com. "We'll know soon! But as for my hand, I can just finish and go, so I'm ready to go. "

James Milner showed his weapons during a training in a vest

4) Milner is ripped

James Milner seems to have spent a lot of time in the preseason gym.

The England international was seen in his waistcoat, torn, muscles well disguised.

Many fans commented on his impressive physique on social media – and his well-defined arms stood out.

5) Stay focused

Simon Mignolet is the subject of many speculations on transfers.

It is thought that the goalkeeper wants to leave Anfield to play football in the first team, but Jurgen Klopp wants to keep him at the club.

His future is still uncertain – yet he remains clearly focused and continues his activity as he prepares for the new season.

While Alisson has not yet returned to the Copa America, Mignolet will have an important role to play in the United States.

While he remains on the spot, it is unlikely that he will replace Alisson as No. 1, but the Reds will need him to be ready if they are summoned.
