Former South African President Jacob Zuma said Tuesday that he had received a death threat after his testimony the day before on a corruption investigation.
Zuma told the investigating committee on Monday that he had been the victim of a plot to get rid of him and that he could trace this conspiracy with foreign intelligence services and the government of apartheid in the 1990s.
Appearing again on Tuesday, Zuma said his personal badistant had received a phone call late Monday from an unknown caller who was threatening to kill Zuma and his children.
The deputy chief justice of the country, Raymond Zondo, who oversees the investigation, said the threats were unacceptable.
There was no immediate comment from the police.
Zuma, ousted by the ruling African National Congress (ANC) in February 2018 and replaced by President Cyril Ramaphosa, has always denied having committed wrongdoing in his nine years in office.

His appearance at the Inquiry marks a dramatic fall for a politician who has long dominated the country's politics.
The investigation concerns allegations that Zuma allegedly allowed three Gupta brothers, his friends, to loot state resources and influence appointments to senior government officials.
Several former officials told the investigation that the Guptas were aware of information regarding appointments to senior government positions.
On Monday, Zuma denied doing anything illegal with the Guptas or having discussed with them anything that he should not have had.
The Gupta brothers, who then denied the charges, left the country roughly at the time of Zuma's ouster.
