Ugandan cows "will get birth certificates" to easily find their trace

All Ugandan cows are about to receive birth certificates so they can be found more easily in order to comply with European Union (EU) regulations, according to The Daily Monitor.

Food producing countries for the European market must provide proof of their traceability, said Tuesday Vincent Ssempijja, Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries.

He added that Ugandan products were seized and banned from the EU.

"Farmers will be registered and their products will receive barcodes, so if they detect a problem with a box, they look for the source and solve the problem," he said.

"We can not access lucrative markets without the registration of farmers," he added.
