Detective Corporal John Evans Ayerakwa-Kumordzi, police officer of the Ghana Police Service, a member of the Akropong District Command, resigned from the Ghana Police Service to challenge the parliament primaries, the Democratic National Congress (NDC).

The resignation of Mr. Ayerakwa-Kumordzi from the law enforcement apparatus comes days after Inspector General of Police Superintendent Peter Lanchene Tuubo's Secretary General voluntarily withdrew from challenge the West West parliamentary primaries of the NDC.

Mr. Ayerakwa-Kumordzi resigned in February of this year to be partisan politician in the Okere constituency, where he chose nomination forms for the next NDC primary.

"I have been in the police for eleven years. I joined the police department in 2008 but I resigned in February of this year. Right after the police school, I was badigned to my constituency and so I worked here for eleven good years. I have been with people for eleven years because I was a detective.
