If it's raining in New York, there's one thing you can bet on (apart from wet socks): flooding subway stations.
Wednesday's storm was no exception.
According to the MTA, the deluge that nearly caused the man of the above video on the rails when a train entered the Court Square station was due to inadequate drainage on a construction site that will host the entrance currently hidden behind the (now damaged) wooden gates.
"This was an absolutely unacceptable and avoidable incident caused by a contractor working on a residential development that could have put lives at risk," said the state-controlled agency. . "We have already begun to take steps to ensure that the developer and the contractor are held accountable."
The agency did not identify the contractor responsible and stated that no injuries had been reported.
"We have already started to take steps to ensure that the developer and the subcontractor are held accountable and that this does not happen again," the statement said.
