A man who was waiting for a train at the Court Square subway station in Queens, New York, was shot dead Wednesday night when a temporary wall broke, releasing a small amount of water on the dock – and almost overturned on the railroad tracks.

The video shows the man already flipped to the ground while the train arrives at the station, the man having clearly been lightly pushed forward when the water hit him.

According to a survey conducted by the MTA, the "serious and dangerous" flood – which was captured on multiple videos on social networks – resulted from the construction of a residential tower adjacent to the station. The site was inundated with water from storms that moved into the area on Wednesday night because the proper pumping system was not in place to drain it, according to the MTA.

The MTA reacted to the video by calling the incident "absolutely unacceptable and avoidable", while blaming a contractor working on the nearby development project.
