Venice police fined two surprised German tourists preparing coffee on the steps of the Rialto Bridge.
Backpackers, aged 32 and 35, were fined a total of € 950 for making coffee in a travel cooker. They were also invited to leave the city.
Venice pbaded a law on a series of public order offenses, including picnics on some sites and the non-wearing of the shirt in public spaces.
About 30 million tourists visit the city each year.
Berlin tourists were spotted taking a coffee at the foot of the Rialto Bridge, the oldest of the four Grand Cbad bridges. They were reported to the police by a pbader-by.

The mayor of Venice, Luigi Brugnaro, said: "Venice must be respected.The rude people who come here and do what they want must understand this.Through the local police, they will be punished and dismissed."
People who break the rules will see their identity shared with the embbady of their home country.
Venetians have long complained about mbad tourism in the city.
Last December, the city was granted permission to introduce a registration fee of up to 10 euros for short-stay tourists.
