Bayern's visit to the United States did not start as expected as Niko Kovac's men were defeated by Arsenal 2-1 in Los Angeles on Wednesday. Summer rookies Benjamin Pavard and Fiete Arp both played their first match in Bayern's colors, while Alphonso Davies was an unused substitute after shortening his short circuit after the Gold Cup to join the group. The Canadian international will be eager to enter the field, as will Robert Lewandowski, who scored Bayern's goal in the game against the Gunners. Lucas Hernandez remains the only player unavailable for the selection, having remained in Munich to continue his recovery after a knee surgery.
Real Madrid left the Spanish capital on July 9th and is training in Montreal, Canada, but it is their first pre – season game of the summer. Head coach Zinedine Zidane returned to the club's base after his brother's death, but James Rodriguez, who had been in Bayern for two seasons, is still on vacation after taking part in the Copa America in late June . Former Eintracht Frankfurt defender Jesus Vallejo is also absent, but Luka Jovic, who moved to Los Blancos Eagles last month, should play.
