Liverpool turned to Bundesliga-based Philipp Max in his search for a replacement for Andy Robertson.

Jurgen Klopp is looking for a new rookie to replace the impressive Robertson after Alberto Moreno's free start at the end of the season.

So far, Junior Firpo, the Real Betis back winger, was tied, but Barcelona also wants to move. Coupled with the player price of 50 million, this gives a reason for Liverpool to look elsewhere.

According to a Catalan publication sportAugsburg's Philipp Max, a former Bayern Munich academy player, has another interest in both clubs.

In the last three seasons, once Manchester United target Max contributed 7 goals and 16 badists in 88 Bundesliga matches. With a valuation of around 20 million euros, it could turn out to be a smart signature.

The report states that the 25-year-old attacker caught Liverpool's attention, while his relatively low asking price meant that Barcelona "faces a lot of competition" to sign it.

Barcelona is in a hurry to find a player to turn Jordi Alba. It is suggested that a new signature be signed next week – either Max or Jerome Roussillon, of Wolfsburg, whose valuation is slightly higher.

Max is under contract at Augsburg – which finished 15th of the German top flight last season – until 2022, but could well progress after making good progress in recent seasons.
