Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said the Manchester United players had been "more proactive" at the pre-season team meetings.
United won his two friendly matches in Australia against Perth Glory and Leeds United earlier this month and will face Inter Milan in Singapore tonight before the end of his Australian and Asian tour against Tottenham in Shanghai on Thursday.
Solskjaer has overseen a more intense training camp ahead of the new season as United tries to improve his 2018-19 trophy-free trophy. Matic, sitting alongside Solskjaer at the preparatory press conference at the national stadium Friday, said about last season: "It was not a good season for all of us, our goal in the end was to to play in the Champions League, but we did not do it. " So, we know that this season, we must do better, we must do more.
"Because when you play for Man United, you have to fight for trophies and we know it very well, so we hope that this season will be better, each of us, and I'm sure we'll be ready to take on any challenge.
