Akufo Addo's presidency has the right attitude towards governance | Policy

As a people, we must not lose sight of the often quoted adage that says, "We must give credit when credit is due".

It is important that those who govern are criticized and accountable to those who are ruled, we must not hurry to pull our bads against those who govern.

In doing so, it is important that we learn exhaustively, where we come from, where we are and where we are going. It is not enough to criticize or take on the government in the name of democracy or to express opposing points of view.

Democracy also means that we should be responsible even in our viewpoints! Democracy also means that we should be truthful to the facts! Democracy also means that we should not just talk, but walk with solutions!

Being a leader seeking great success, especially in our part of the world, requires not only a vision, but also a lot of courage, discipline and determination. I dare say with the greatest certainty that our current president, Nana Akufo Addo, is proposing such impressive principles in the way he directs the affairs of the state. That's not to say that he has reached the 100% mark; Achieving a score of 80% is just as remarkable and deserves a pat on the back, especially if we take into account the origin of our country.

I would not bother readers with a lot of government success in recent years. That's because those who feel it know it better! I'm just going to give a good overview of why I think the government has done so much in a short period of time with limited resources, but with the right ATTITUDE.

I always argue that a responsible man is not just a man who has enough money, but a responsible man is a man who can do what is necessary for his children even in spite of financial constraints. In simple terms, you can have enough money while remaining an irresponsible parent and you can also be poor but a responsible parent. Similarly, in terms of governance, a responsible government does not consist in having billions of dollars of funds available to the government, but rather in being able to relieve the suffering of the population in the face of the scarcity or abundance of resources. I must also add that it is one thing to conceptualize one idea and another to have the courage and discipline to implement this idea. Financial resources are the least of the things you need to realize a vision in my opinion.

If the readers remember, there were many who, like the Pharisees who persecuted the Apostles for calling the risen Christ, the Son of God, persecuted President Akufo-Addo for many of his ambitious programs during periods when he led a lively campaign to be elected President of Ghana. Many doubts were put on these visions mainly because of the lack of financial resources. The chorus sounded as follows: "Where will he find the money to implement programs such as free SHS?" And "How will he do everything he talks about?

But you see, the candidate Akufo-Addo, as a responsible father, looked beyond the scarcity of resources and economic gloom. He knew that as president and with the right attitude, he would be able to implement some of those bold policies that his opponents have chosen. He needed COURAGE, DISCIPLINE and DETERMINATION to be able to implement these bold policies. Some even think that, for lack of sufficient resources, the government should not have rushed to implement some of these policies. This argument in itself is defeatist, for it is useless for money to be readily available in abundance; resources must always compete for projects. The perfect time to implement such bold policies, such as Free SHS and Planting for Foods and Jobs, would have been better than the first year of the Akufo-Addo presidency. The successes are just too numerous to be underlined. However, as I say again and again, I focus on the president's attitude to his mandate – for me, it is these principles that make or break a leader.

Ghanaians must value President Akufo-Addo and his vision of transforming Ghana. That's why we gave him an overwhelming mandate during the polls. We must move forward with him as he takes us to the next phase – a phase that our forefathers envisioned and for which we struggled.

Having a president who seeks to educate every young Ghanaian, to formalize the economy through digitization and technology, and to embrace the ideals of "Ghana Beyond Aid" is by no means a coincidence. It is a well-thought-out and carefully planned program to position this country and its people to compete globally. Add value to a country and its people, it is ready for today and tomorrow. Therefore, as a people, we can not be slow to catch up with the bus when the driver is able and able to get on the fast lane towards prosperity.

What is a Ghanaian democracy if the majority of our people are without education? What is a Ghanaian democracy if the government ignores its social responsibility to its people? What is a Ghanaian democracy for impoverished citizens?

I think these are issues that we should all be thinking about. I have no doubt that the President is about to realize the Ghanaian dream. He needs the support and encouragement of Ghanaians to do even better.

Rightly, President Akufo-Addo has justified the NPP and Ghanaians in general that he is a pragmatic and visionary leader, endowed with the right attitude towards work. As the Akans will say, "Agro is so, efri anapa", namely, if the game will be exciting, we will see the early indications in the morning, from the beginning. Our morning is already exciting!
